The first Open Championship took place at Prestwick in 1860; Willie Park Snr triumphed by 2 strokes over Old Tom Morris in an 8 man field. The Open has continued to grow and grow since then and is now regarded as golf's leading Major by the top professionals.

If you appreciate links golf and the history of The Open, then look no further than The Open Experience Tour, allowing you to play 7 Open Championship venues. These prestigious clubs are located in 4 of Scotland's greatest golf regions in Ayrshire, East Lothian, St Andrews and Carnoustie.

This 9 day tour includes all private transportation, hotels, 6 green fees plus an Old Course ballot entry and a dinner hosted by a golf historian.

During this Signature Tour groups will stay in a range of comfortable 4 & 5 star hotels which are popular with golfers. We can recommend a wide range of local restaurants and pubs located in the famous golf towns of North Berwick, St Andrews and Troon.

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL

• Meet & Greet with private airport transfer
• Check-in to The 4* Piersland House, Troon for 3 nights B&B staying in a Mews Cottage Suite- The former home of the Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky family is a stunning country mansion house style hotel located only 300 yards from Royal Troon Golf Club.
• Three-course Welcome Dinner

DAY 2

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Golf at Royal Troon Old Course - Home to the legendary 123 Yard, Par 3 8th Hole - The Postage Stamp.

DAY 3

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Golf at Turnberry Ailsa Course - The most scenic Open Championship Course. Enhanced recently by golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert.

DAY 4

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Golf at Prestwick Golf Club - Host to the first Open Championship in 1860.
• Private Transfer to North Berwick and check-in to The 4* Nether Abbey Hotel for 2 nights B&B, staying in an Executive Twin/Double Room - Comfortable boutique family run hotel with major refurbishment in 2014. Excellent bar and lounge facilities.

DAY 5

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Golf at Muirfield Golf Club - 16 Time host to The Open Championship.
• Dinner at The Fly Half Restaurant hosted by a golf historian

DAY 6

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Play Musselburgh The Old Course - An original Open Championship venue hosting on six occasions between 1874 and 1889.
• Transfer to St Andrews and check-in to 5* Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews for 3 nights B&B staying in Fairmont View Double/Twin Rooms- One of Scotland’s most iconic luxury golfers’ hotels set on 520 acres, two miles outside of the town on a high cliff top with stunning views over St Andrews Bay.

DAY 7

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Play The Old Course - The most famous golf course in the world. Iconic features including the Hell Bunker on 14th, the Road Hole 17th Hole and the famous 18th with the Swilcan Bridge playing back into the Old Grey Toon. (Subject to successful 48-hour ballot entry)
• Lunch in Tom Morris Bar & Grill - Casual Scottish dining in St Andrews Links Clubhouse

DAY 8 

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Play Carnoustie Championship Course - The toughest finish on The Open rota framed by the famous Barry Burn.

DAY 9

• Full Scottish Breakfast
• Private departure transfer

The 2019 Open Championship held at Royal Portrush was won by the hugely popular Irishman Shane Lowry. This was the first time since 1951 that The Open was held in Northern Ireland, and what an incredible show they put on!
